Five intrepid Kingston & Poly athletes ventured to the Polish city of Toruń for the 10th European Veterans Athletics Indoor Championships.
International debut from Clare Nelson in the 60m and 200m, Worlds and European Championship regular Mike May and Andrew Gordon, who paid for his flight the day before pulling his hamstring, didn't manage to put a foot on the podium.
Sprint coach Chuck Isetts not only competed in the 60m and 200m, but was also part of the bronze winning team in the M70 4 x 200m.
But the star of the show was Joan Trimble who came back with 'Ching' (that's the sound that multiple medals make when they collide). First was silver in the W60 60m in a British 1, 2, 3, 4. Next she claimed bronze in the 200m in a British 1, 2, 3. And finally Gold in the 4 x 200m relay with a World Record time of 2:02.39, breaking the record they set a year ago by 3.4 seconds.
Well done to all and I know some have already started booking hotels for the World Masters Outdoor Championships to be held in Lyon, France in August 2015.
